Collections Specialist
The Collections Specialist is responsible for contacting consumers to resolve outstanding balances in a respectful, compliant, and results-driven manner. This role requires strong communication skills, professionalism, emotional intelligence, and the ability to follow structured call flows while adapting to each unique conversation.
Key Responsibilities
- Place outbound and receive inbound calls to consumers regarding past-due accounts
- Verify consumer identity in compliance with FDCPA and client requirements
- Clearly explain account details, balances, and available repayment options
- Negotiate payment arrangements using approved guidelines and call flow steps
- Document all account activity accurately and thoroughly
- Maintain professionalism, empathy, and compliance on every call
- Meet or exceed performance metrics related to quality, compliance, and recovery
- Participate in training, coaching sessions, and quality reviews
- Follow all company policies, procedures, and security protocols
Required Qualifications
- Strong verbal communication and active listening skills
- Basic computer proficiency and ability to navigate multiple systems
- Professional demeanor and conflict-management skills
- Ability to work independently
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous collections or call center experience
- Familiarity with FDCPA compliance standards
- Experience with CRM or call center platforms
- Bilingual (Spanish/English) a plus
